Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 Tablespoon baby oil
1 cup water
food color
Directions:
Mix ingredients in large bowl. Cook in electric skillet on medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture forms a soft ball. Remove from heat and pour onto waxed paper. Knead dough and divide it into one- to two-inch balls. Poke a hole in the center of each ball and fill it with 3-4 drops of food color. Pinch the hole closed.
As children knead the balls of dough, the colors become a surprise.
The critical part of the process is having extra supervision in the room to keep preschoolers away from the hot skillet. The Bible lesson we affirm while getting help mixing the ingredients is, “We are helpers.”
